k38 residence
The oriental-inspired residence serves as a tranquil sanctuary for a small family of three. This thoughtfully designed home, while appearing simple, places a strong emphasis on the principles of flow, circulation, and the infusion of natural light and ventilation. It was created with great care to cater to the needs and preferences of a retired calligrapher, offering an environment for inspiration and enjoyment.
The heart of the design revolves around the concept of a center courtyard, mirroring the courtyard homes found in traditional Chinese architecture. However, in this contemporary adaptation, the courtyard is strategically placed to optimize natural ventilation and the ingress of sunlight, breathing life into every corner of the home. Cross-ventilation channels a constant breeze, providing a refreshing atmosphere reminiscent of traditional courtyard dwellings.
Surrounded by lush landscaping, the house is enveloped in a verdant embrace, ensuring a naturally cool and inviting living environment. This blend of modern design and traditional elements creates a harmonious and serene retreat where both aesthetics and functionality seamlessly converge
